Recording Studio roof finished!

What a time for celebration today; we have finished the roof of the recording studio! Due to the special nature of this building, since it is a recording studio, we needed to do some special things to the roof. Normally here in Ikelenge, we get about 6 months of rain each year. Rain, whether heavy or light, always makes a noise on a tin roof – often making it sound like the rain is harder than it is. So, it […]

Recording Studio ready for roofing

Even though the rains have been quite regular over the past few months, we are thankful that the work on the recording studio is progressing. With some more supplies and some good hard work, we have finished the structure of the roof! Once that was done, the builders got busy to finish all the walls and gables right up to where the roofing sheets will go. There were a lot of questions as to how to get the builders high […]

Recording Studio purloins on

While we wait for more supplies, let me give an update on how far things have gone with the recording studio building. The rest of the trusses went up well, even the last one which most deemed was going to be the most difficult one of them all. How thankful we are that all were kept safe as we walked along the top of walls moving and erecting the trusses. Next on the schedule was the installation of the purloins; […]

Recording Studio taking shape

Slowly but surely the building designated to be a recording studio is taking shape. The ring beam has been installed and home made trusses are now sitting on top of the ring beam pointed skyward. There was much discussion as the trusses were made regarding their size as they were made to have an overhang (extend beyond the walls) of almost 2 meters! Such is unheard of here in Ikelenge so this building was certainly shaping up to be a […]

Changes at the Kantumoya Homestead

It is a hot day at the end of August, yet there is much activity in the old Kantumoya homestead. Trucks have started to come in bringing crushed stones and sand – an indication of construction work about to begin. Rumors have been circulating that the old Kantumoya homestead is now in new hands and it is true. The house structure which had reached just above window level many years ago is now back under construction. “Who now owns it?”, […]

Practice in Public Makes Perfect: how playing for your fans makes you better

Price, 57, has played music nearly her whole life, starting with piano when she was five years old. But in the fall of 2009, the guitar was still something of mystery to her. She had been playing for only a couple of months and was struggling a bit with the new challenges. Yet, instead of holing up in her living room to practice until she felt more confident, she did something totally unexpected: she packed up her guitar and sheet […]

The Complete Definition Of The Music

Music is a form of art that involves organized and audible sounds and silence. It is normally expressed in terms of pitch (which includes melody and harmony), rhythm (which includes tempo and meter), and the quality of sound (which includes timbre, articulation, dynamics, and texture). Music may also involve complex generative forms in time through the construction of patterns and combinations of natural stimuli, principally sound. Music may be used for artistic or aesthetic, communicative, entertainment, or ceremonial purposes. The […]
